What Each Platform Does

Fanfix is a creator subscription platform launched in 2021 and acquired by SuperOrdinary in 2023. It is marketed explicitly at Gen Z influencers and positions itself as a “safe for brand” alternative to OnlyFans. Creators on Fanfix post exclusive content — behind-the-scenes videos, personal updates, early drops — behind a monthly subscription paywall. The platform requires a minimum of 10,000 followers on a connected social platform before a creator can even apply to join.

Auraclip is a pay-per-clip marketplace requiring no follower minimum, no application, and no ongoing subscription maintenance. Creators upload exclusive video clips, set a price, and fans purchase and download them permanently. The 85% revenue share and fixed monthly payout (the 8th of each month) make the economics transparent from the start.

The Follower Gate Problem

Fanfix’s 10K minimum is a meaningful barrier. Most creators who would benefit most from monetization are those in the 1,000–10,000 follower range who are growing but not yet “influencer” tier. Fanfix effectively locks out this entire cohort. Auraclip has no such requirement — a creator with 500 loyal fans who are willing to pay for exclusive clips can earn meaningfully from their first week.

This also means the two platforms serve fundamentally different moments in a creator’s career. Fanfix is for established influencers; Auraclip is for creators at any stage.

Revenue Share and Payout Timing

Both platforms take 20% of revenue (creators keep 80% on Fanfix vs 85% on Auraclip), so Auraclip has a slight edge. More notable is payout timing: Fanfix uses a net-30 model, meaning you can wait a full month after earnings close before seeing funds. Auraclip pays on the 8th of each month with no net-30 lag.

Content Ownership and Geography

Fanfix content is access-only — fans who cancel lose access to everything they paid for. Auraclip clips are downloadable and permanently fan-owned, which changes how fans value individual purchases. For creators with international audiences, Fanfix’s US-primary coverage is a real limitation, while Auraclip supports creators globally.
